“As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God. My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?” – Psalm of David
“Thou hast formed us for Thyself, and our hearts are restless till they find rest in Thee.” – St. Augustine
My name is Chinedu Conrad Oranye and I am a restless pilgrim.
I belong to the family of men and women around the world who passionately desire more of God. We are a spiritual family of burning hearts who desire more than this world can offer, or what religious systems can satisfy. We are descendants from a lineage of spiritual men and women who have always felt uneasy with normal human living, except where human living was soaked and saturated with the living God.
In this family of hungry pilgrims, we cannot be satisfied outside of God. Everything in this world is a mirage, an empty vanity; only God really counts and for this reason, we pursue only Him. Christ is the Sweet Fount from which we drink and that Fount is never dry. I am restless and I am not satisfied. I have God but I want so much more.
As my spiritual mentor would say, “To have found God and still to pursue Him is the soul’s paradox of love, scorned indeed by the too-easily-satisfied religionist, but justified in happy experience by the children of the burning heart.’ – A.W. Tozer, The Pursuit Of God. And as St. Bernard would say, “We taste thee, O Thou Living Bread, And long to feast upon Thee still: We drink of Thee, the Fountainhead And thirst our souls from thee to fill.“
The Restless Pilgrim site is a platform where I share my innermost thoughts and passions about the Holy Scriptures, about my passions for God, about my personal struggles in this life of journeying with God and about the lessons I hear God speaking to our generation. I also share the quotes and musical expressions of others whom i consider also as restless pilgrims.
The vision of this site is to:
- Invite fellow travelers to join in and initiate an insatiable hunger for more of God
- Nurture the desire and passion for more of God and a more radical abandonment to God
- Challenge our world to desire more than the mundane materialistic vanities of this transient life
- Teach us from the wisdom of those who have gone before us
As my mentor again would say, “The whole work of God in redemption is to undo the tragic effects of that foul revolt, and to bring us back again into right and eternal relationship with Himself. God wills that we push on into His presence and live our whole life there. This is to be known to us in conscious experience. It is more than a doctrine to be held, it is a life to be enjoyed every moment of every day.” – A.W. Tozer, The Pursuit Of God.
