BURIAL CONCERNS

Genesis 50:5 (NKJV)

“My father made me swear, saying, ‘Behold, I am dying; in my grave which I dug for myself in the land of Canaan, there you shall bury me.’…”

Jacob was very particular that he should not be buried in Egypt but should be buried where his ancestors were buried. Joseph, later on, gave instructions also to his household that his bones should be removed from Egypt when they leave for the promised land. The Old Testament saints seemed quite concerned about the place of their burial, but we should not have such concerns.

Our faith and hope are that Christ shall return again and wherever our bodies were buried, they shall be resurrected and clothed with new bodies for eternity and taken up with Christ. Therefore, the carefulness of where we are to be buried is not a New Testament practice because Christ knows where we will be and He will surely come for us. Hallelujah!

So fear not and worry not about burial place and burial rituals. All that counts is that we die in Christ. Amen.

“Amen, Lord. That’s all that matters. Amen.”
