“Meditate on these things; give yourself entirely to them, that your progress may be evident to all” – 1 Timothy 4:15
It is possible to be a child of God but not make progress in the spiritual walk, or at least, not make progress that is reasonable enough to be noticed. There is a type of progress that the Bible says is “evident”. It means the changes in your personal life, character & ministry announces itself for everyone to see; the transformation becomes so clear that it’s unmistakable.
Isn’t that something we should strongly desire & pursue after? The Bible gives us 2 simple secrets to make this happen:
In this busy overwhelming generation of constant pursuing, the discipline of quiet meditation is becoming a rarity. Spiritual progress requires us to learn & practice the discipline of withdrawal, quietness & personal reflection on God & His Word. We need to “pay complete attention” to God’s priorities. Those who regularly step away from the madness of human living so as to dig deeper roots in Christ, will surely make amazing spiritual progress.
2. Give Yourself Entirely
Mental acceptance of truth is not the same as giving yourself entirely to truth. We know much but excuse ourselves from practicing much of what we know. Knowledge is insufficient. Those who know little but give themselves totally to practice the little they know, will make much more significant progress than those who know much but remain adamant & practice controlled obedience. Give yourself away totally to Christ & His Word, and your progress will be rapid.
