Romans 6:12-13 (NKJV)
“Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin…”
Although sin has been defeated by the death and resurrection of Christ, and although the power of death has been broken by the grace we received through the resurrected life of Jesus, yet the battle is not over. We have a responsibility, using the grace we have in Christ, to resist the continuing lies and deceptions of hell, and the first thing to resist is lust. We have power under God to say no to lust and every sinful desire. Our mortal bodies have the divine enablement to overcome the enticements of lust. We cannot stop lust targeting us but we can resist its power over our hearts and minds and bodies. We do not have to obey the spirit of lust because we are dead to it.
The second thing we need to resist is becoming partakers or promoters of sin. Our human faculties are sanctified in Christ, totally redeemed to the purposes of God, and they cannot and should not in any way be channels of unrighteousness. My body, mind and spirit are totally consecrated and separated to God, and therefore cannot be an instrument of uncleanliness or worldliness in any form. I must actively resist any suggestion to make my body serve the devil’s agenda in any way.
“I resist the devil and I resist his attempts to work in me and through me. I am connected to Christ and His light in me has no connection with darkness whatsoever. I take and make my stand firm in Christ. Amen.”
