Romans 8:15 (NKJV)

“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, ‘Abba, Father.’”

Another strong evidence that we are no longer under the powers of the old life, is our freedom from the bondage of fear. If we still have the grips of fear around our hearts, then it may be a clear indication that we are not yet properly located in Christ. How can it be that I am in Christ, and Christ is in God, and yet I suffer from the torments of fear? How can it be that the Almighty God dwells in me by His eternal Spirit, and I am still in bondage to fear? This cannot be. The man properly located knows who he is and to Whom he belongs, and he recognizes that nothing in heaven or on earth is greater than God; the very God Who is his shield, defence and sustainer.

We are not slaves to fear. We are not “fearful slaves.” – NLT. It does not mean that we do not now and again have things that make us afraid, but it simply means that we are not “in bondage to fear.” We don’t live in fear. We are not in constant subjection to fear. We are not under the terror of fear. Fear is a spirit and Christ has not given us the spirit of fear but of boldness. Therefore, we live above and outside the control of the spirit of fear. We refuse to be his slaves, for in Christ Jesus, we are more than conquerors. Whether they are physical, financial, emotional or psychological fears, we are above them all.

“I am above the power of fear, through Christ Who has set me free. I am beyond the reach of the spirit of fear, because Lord, You have set me free and I am free indeed. Amen.”
