Romans 9:6-7 (NKJV)
“But it is not that the word of God has taken no effect. For they are not all Israel who are of Israel, nor are they all children because they are the seed of Abraham…”
The Word of God is mighty and powerful, more than able to transform any life that submits to it; but the Word of God will not force its way on men. For this reason, it may sometimes looks like the Word of God has not made a difference in the lives of some people despite years of having heard it, but God is working. The Word responds to the willingness of the hearer. God is God and in His sovereignty, He’s working at His own pace.
We must not be discouraged therefore when it seems like the Word of God is not making rapid change in someone’s life. God is working. Or maybe there are people we know in church who have betrayed our trust as they’ve turned out to be wolves in sheep clothing. Remember, “they are not all Israel who are of Israel.” God is still God and God is still working. The Jews rejected Jesus and in fact killed Him, but out of the cross, millions around the world are saved, including thousands of Jews also. God is still working, and we need to be patient for the work to evolve in God’s time and God’s ways.
“Lord, help me to patiently wait for Your Word to work. Even when betrayed by those who should have known Your word, may I not lose heart O Lord. Amen.”
