Matthew 26:19

“So the disciples did as Jesus had directed them; and they prepared the Passover.”

I have lots of ideas and lots of energy to expend but my greatest satisfaction will not come from pursuing my ideas and chasing down my great innovations. My greatest satisfaction will come from obeying His directives. Jesus knows the details of my future. Jesus knows things I have no clue about. Thinking I am wise and therefore trying to rule my life without following His express leadership, is a sure prescription for failure. Jesus directed the disciples and they complied with His directions.

There is no greater joy that obeying God’s clear directives. Jesus gives orders; we obey. Simple. In our age of democracy and self-elevation, we somehow think that Jesus needs to get our opinion before He demands obedience. What fallacy and nonsense! Jesus is Lord Almighty. Our greatest good and our greatest fulfillment will not come from doing our own will; it will come from aligning our entire beings with His clear directives. This is the only prescription for personal satisfaction in life.

“Lord Jesus, I don’t want my will but Yours. Please lead me to hear Your voice and give me the strength to obey Your directives, for I know that only by this shall my life enter rest and satisfaction. Amen.”
