Matthew 27:25

“And all the people answered and said, ‘His blood be on us and on our children.’ ”

We should never let our actions put future generations into bondage. It is criminal to mortgage the future destinies of unborn generations because of the things we do today. Many people are born into a life of slavery and bondage to men and spirits, because of the actions of previous generations. And this is so unfair. Every child should be given the freedom to grow normally and to define their pathway through the decisions they make. Unfortunately, however, that is not the reality of life in our world. Future generations unborn have already lost their battles and have been set up on a pathway of destruction based on our selfish and self-centered decisions.

These Jews proclaimed a curse on themselves and the future of the Jewish people when they said, “His blood be on us and on our children.” Such a foolish prayer. Could this account for some of the recurrent struggles faced by the Jewish people? May we never make these kinds of pronouncements, either by our actions, inactions, or our words. May we instead work to bequeath a positive and rich legacy to future generations; and may our children and children’s children remember us with gratitude and not with scorn.

“Oh Lord, may I leave blessings and not curses to my lineage. May posterity celebrate the platforms I laid as foundations for their prosperity. May I never be remembered with regret. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
