DEFRAUDING THE KIDS!

August 21, 2017

Genesis 31:15 (NKJV)

“Are we not considered strangers by him? For he has sold us, and also completely consumed our money.”

Our children notice things even if they do not speak out and we need to be careful about the things we do in their names. Leah and Rachel saw what their father had done with them. Laban had made Jacob serve him for fourteen years for his daughters, and yet the daughters did not benefit from the prosperity accrued from the years of labor. Laban and his sons had enjoyed all the wealth from Jacob’s work of fourteen years, but his daughters in whose name Jacob had been employed, got nothing.

We must be careful. Our children are watching and observing. We must not use their names for personal gain without explaining to them or without getting them involved. If we use their names for anything, we need to tell them, and where possible, they should be part of the process. Where profit has accrued from the use of their names (even in such a thing as dowry), they should receive a portion.

In summary, on no condition should you defraud your children by using them for personal gain.

“I will never use my children to make any personal profit for myself in any way, in Jesus’ name I vow. It will never happen by the grace of God. Amen.”
