How is history made?
History is not made by weak men
History is not made by confused men
History is not made by empty men.
History is made by visionaries
History is made by pragmatists
History is made by clear minded men
History is made by people of strength-
Strong on principles
Strong on morals
Strong in endurance
Strong on ideas
No man makes history alone
Every man who makes history has men-
Men who believe in him,
Men who trust him,
Men whom he can trust,
Men of broad vision,
Committed men.
Loyal men.
Men who don’t fear him.
Men who can speak their minds,
Men who understand him,
Men who understand people.
Men who can criticize him.
Men of ideas.
Men who see reality,
And who can see the future.
Men of strength,
And men of compassion.
So where are you on this journey?
I know I was born to make history.
In different ways,
I have made history-
But I know I have not arrived yet.
I know my days ahead are yet coming.
So I pray with all earnestness-
For strength,
For courage,
For the right ideas,
For the right men,
For skills & abilities.
For discernment.
I pray for the discipline of focus.
I pray I’ll know my day when it comes.
I pray I will not flee when the door opens,
I need to hear when God says,
“It is time,”
When God says, “Move forward.”
I am afraid but I am calm.
I sense my next phase is coming,
But I am afraid.
I almost want to run;
But He holds me.
I hear Him say, “Wait. Be still.”
“Oh Lord, I am a weak man
I am a man of many fears
I have strong passions & ideas-
But am weak in discipline & endurance.
If I must enter the door you’re opening,
Then Lord, you just must work hard on me
You have lots of work to do Lord.
But I will not shy away.
When each door opens, Lord,
Help me know which ones are yours.
Deliver me from empty ambition.
Deliver me from presumptions.
Help me walk forward,
And for your Glory & Praise,
May I do what others have not done-
Only for your Glory & Praise.
Writing Your history-
A history that honors You,
And serves humanity-
Is my greatest honor & privilege.
When the bell rings,
Lord help me to hear you-
And not the quiet small inner voice of Self,
Or the loud chants of vain men.
May I hear Your voice,
And respond to You.
In Jesus name. Amen.”
