”You don’t have tomorrow!”

January 19, 2021

I know this may sound like negative prophecy but it’s not. It’s just a statement of reality. You don’t have tomorrow; you only have today!

I’m still in shock. Just got off the phone with a dear brother. He said that he slept on the same bed with his wife last night and even this morning—everything was normal. Then suddenly she cried out, “Daddy, Daddy, my eyes are turning me.” And then she passed out…and died…right there. In his arms. Unexpected. Unannounced. Hmm!

Beloved, this is not to create fear or weaken faith—but we don’t have tomorrow; we only have today. Oh, such a lovely and wonderful sister. She’s gone. Yes, most probably she’s with Jesus now and rejoicing in the glories of Christ but—how suddenly her departure was for us here. She’s gone without pre-warning leaving a perplexed husband and young children. This is part of the mystery called “life on earth.” Irrespective of your level of spirituality, you only have today. Never forget this.

John 9:4, “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.”

In this your day, please keep short accounts, pay up your debts, love your family, forgive everyone, forgive yourself, serve God sacrificially, stop all procrastination, live consecrated, live life fully in God, don’t live another man’s destiny (live yours)—and live without regrets. Live in your day before your night comes, and this could be anytime.

My dear sister has gone suddenly. It’s a time for me to reflect afresh on the truths I know about the brevity of life. One thing I know: I only have today and I don’t know about tomorrow. I will work the works of Him that sent me, in my Day. What about you?
