MY EVERYTHING

Psalms 18:1-2 (NKJV)

‘I will love You, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.’

This psalm is a psalm of praise to God whom David had come to see as his strength, protector, and deliverer. He uses different metaphors and images to illustrate His conclusions: God is reliable, God is dependable, God is Whom we need to make it through life’s evil terrain.

Loving God is for a reason. Loving God is because of Who God is and what He has done. Experience in life and experience with God has only strengthened and confirmed our love for God. God is indeed our true strength. God can be relied on to deliver us. God is our true protector and shield. It’s unimaginable how many invincible victories are won on our behalf every day, even without our knowing it. Although Satan’s anger rages against us, but like David, may we offer praise because of God’s constant presence that upholds and sustains those who belong to Him. And this must be a personal confession and not just a communal one. David kept using the personal pronoun ‘My’ to show it was his personal experience.

Do you have such a deep love for God borne from your personal testimonies of His acts in your life?

‘Lord, I love you. You are my everything. An entire lifetime would be insufficient to express my affection and gratitude for your constant provisions and protection of my life. You have been there and you are still there. For this reason, I have strength to continue despite what lies ahead of me. Thank you Eternal Father, my strength, my rock, my fortress, my deliverer, my shield, my stronghold and my horn of salvation. Thank you, my God. Amen.’
