1 Kings 1:12 (NKJV)
“Come, please, let me now give you advice, that you may save your own life and the life of your son Solomon.”
We cannot see everything and know everything. There will be many things happening that we are unaware of and need people around us to see and hear for us. People see what you don’t see and hear what you don’t hear.
No matter how much you try to know your environment by yourself, there will be things hidden from you that you need to know, but you will never know. This is especially true if you hold a position of leadership. Leadership can be lonely.
Who you surround yourself with and who you keep as your advisers are, therefore, very crucial. Impactful people have trusted confidants who tell them things they need to hear. Foolish men isolate themselves and die without helpers.
Bathsheba had no idea what Adonijah had planned, nor did King David know that he was being dethroned. Bathsheba had no idea that her life and the life of her son were at stake. She lived in her innocence until she was notified.
Thank God for Nathan. It was his advice that saved Bathsheba and Solomon. They were both at the border of destruction if not for Nathan’s timely advice, which Bathsheba was wise to follow.
May God surround us with people who notify us of dangers around us. May God send us helpers who will reveal secret things being planned against us and our loved ones. Without seeking them out, God will move people to seek us out.
Not only was Solomon’s life spared, but Solomon’s destiny was protected. What God had ordained Solomon to become would have died prematurely if not for Nathan. Nathan preserved Solomon to fulfill his God-ordained assignment.
Do you know that your advisers are key to helping you enter your God-ordained assignments? Do you know that failure to have the right advisers may lead to an early retirement from God’s plan for your life?
Surround yourself with wise men and wise women who hear the news on the streets and hear the heartbeat of God. Surround yourself with committed advisers whose primary interest is to see you succeed in your life-calling and destiny.
Don’t walk alone. Walk with counselors and confidants. Have people who can whisper secrets into your ear. Give your heart to trusted men and women who you know have your best interests at heart. I repeat, Impactful people never walk alone.
