REMEMBERING, RECORDING & REFLECTING!

1 Kings 3:15 (NKJV)
“Then Solomon awoke; and indeed it had been a dream. And he came to Jerusalem and stood before the ark of the covenant of the LORD, offered up burnt offerings, offered peace offerings, and made a feast for all his servants.”

God has been faithful and remains faithful to His people. One sign of God’s faithfulness is His constant communication with His saints. God is never silent, and God is always intent on ensuring we understand what’s in His heart.

Our God is a God of fellowship. He wants to maintain fellowship with His people. Throughout the Bible, we see Him constantly reaching out to His people, speaking, listening, interacting, and relating. That is who He is!

The problem most of the time is that we do not hear Him or know that He is communicating. He speaks in different ways, but we are often on a different wavelength and completely miss what He is saying. And this is tragic – for both God and us!

Tragic for us, because God never speaks without purpose, and when He sends us messages, and we miss them, it is a big loss. Every word God speaks is full of jewels to crown our lives with blessings and direction. It’s our big loss not to hear Him.

Tragic for God, because He wants fellowship with us and to guide us, and when we don’t get Him, He is sad because it portrays Him as someone He is not. Many people feel abandoned by God, and this breaks God’s heart. He never abandons His own.

And one of the most common ways God communicates with us is through dreams. The words “dream,” “dreams,” or “dreamed” occur over 130 times in the Bible (NJKV). God spoke repeatedly through dreams, and the saints of old knew it was God speaking.

Can you imagine that all the encounters we have been discussing about Solomon and God were all in a dream? Can you imagine the precision of these interactions with Solomon and the precision with which Solomon recorded and responded to them?

One of our greatest losses is that we do not remember, record, or reflect on our dreams. We have not placed a premium value on this crucial means of God’s grace. Obviously, God speaks in other ways as well, but dreams are among the top.

God is speaking. God is reaching out. God is communicating. God is giving instructions. God is answering our questions. God is providing guidance. God wants our fellowship. Are we ready for Him? Are we tuned to His wavelength?

Practically, I strongly recommend three things. First, prayerfully prepare your heart before going to bed. Secondly, record every dream you remember. Thirdly, prayerfully reflect on your dreams. The outcome may just surprise you.
