Galatians 6:2 (NKJV)
‘Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.’
The summary of the law of Christ is love and one way to show love is in helping one another. There are several ways to bear one another’s burden and here are a few. Firstly, we need to seek opportunities to physically help those who need physical assistance. This may be inconveniencing to you but that’s what love is all about. Extend a physical hand to help someone who needs physical help. Secondly, we need to help others financially. People are struggling all around us. Things are tough and families are going through great struggles to make ends meet. We must sacrifice something to assist those who are in dire financial straits. Thirdly is emotional assistance. Some people need to be heard. They are under tremendous emotional burdens such as guilt, failure, loneliness, lostness etc. Some people simply need affirmation or a listening ear. We must be willing to lay aside our agendas to help the struggling brother.
Don’t live for yourself. Live for others. Always be on the look out for opportunities to be a blessing to someone else. Don’t struggle with men. If there is a proud man who wants to talk all the time and needs to only hear his own voice, he is under a different type of burden. Listen to him. Give him time to lift up himself and let him find peace in hearing his voice. Your silence has helped him. Each situation is different but the bottom line is this; always look for ways to alleviate the pains and aches of those around you.
‘Deliver me Lord from being self centered, for the self centered man only thinks of himself and not of others. Give me the sensitive heart to see the needs and burdens of others around me and to be willing to do something about it. Even if it will cost me something dear, please help me serve others through sacrifice. This I ask in Jesus name. Amen.’
