Jude 1:21 (NKJV)
‘keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life.’
One thing we must do in these last days is to ensure we remain in the love of God. The love of God is everywhere and for everyone, but not everyone remains in the love of God. I must do what I must do not to stray outside the active love of God for my life.
But how do I do this? By keeping my eyes on the expectant return of the Lord Jesus. Those who live in active anticipation of the return of Jesus, find the mercy of God active in their lives. The mercy of God is sustained and supported by the love of God and all these work together when we have our eyes set on the return of Jesus. It is the awaiting of His return that keeps me vigilant in my walk and therefore preserves me in the love of God. So don’t forget that Jesus is coming back soon. Be expectant. Be waiting. Have the upward gaze always. And you will be preserved until He returns. Amen.
‘So Lord, deny me the distraction of enjoying the things of the earth so much that they become my first love. Beautiful as the things here may seem, may they never replace the central love I have for you and may all else pale in comparison. Your love for me is constant, but I am often drawn away by the many loves around me. But Lord, keep my eyes on the heavenly return of my king. Keep me focused on the things up above and the glories yet to come. Teach me to wait for your return. I ache for your return. I burn for your return. I desire your return above life itself. O Lord, as my gaze is transfixed on your return, may my soul and spirit be preserved in your love. Amen’
