Psalms 10:1-3 (NKJV)
‘Why do You stand afar off, O Lord?…The wicked in his pride persecutes the poor; For the wicked boasts of his heart’s desire…’
I dare not ask the Lord questions that may question His judgments but I echo the cry of David: ‘Why do you stand aloof Lord and let wickedness prosper?’ See the way the wicked boasts because none is calling him to order. The wicked persecutes and tramples the poor under foot because he believes no one will arise for him.
This is heartbreaking to see the wicked go unpunished. The delays of God can be sometimes frustrating and though we know God always makes all things beautiful in His time and will eventually judge the wicked, the burden of faith is in believing while waiting for God to act; and while watching oppression go unpunished. The world is full of proud men who take advantage of the poor and weak; and this breaks the heart of many of us who seek justice for the defenseless.
We know God will arise. But until then, our cry continue, ‘Why Lord? Why?’
‘O Lord, I cannot help but ask- why are you silent concerning the boastings of the wicked. Arise O Lord and silence his boasts and stop his oppression of the poor and helpless. This is my cry today. Arise O Lord. Arise.’
