Psalms 19:10 (NKJV)
‘More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.’
The preceding verses enumerate all the positive virtues of the Word of God, calling it The Law, The Testimony, The Statutes, The Commandments, The Judgments of the Lord. These are different forms of the revelation of God given to Man for Man’s good and moral sustenance.
For the wise man, the Word of God should be His primary desire, for by it, he will know the mind of God and live in obedience to God. As precious as gold is and as sweet as pure honey is, the Word of God is of greater value and will give us greater satisfaction. So in all your pursuits in life, make the getting of God’s Word, the primary pursuit and objective; and by this, you would have received more value than gold and a better taste than honey.
God’s Word, taken in slowly and gently, satisfies beyond human words and expression. O! the sweetness in drinking in God’s Word slowly, in sipping it in gradually. The wonders and wisdom of God’s Word are insatiable.
‘Your first words to me as a new believer were, “Have faith in the Book of Life for all shall be revealed to you therein”. I cannot forget those words. Lord teach me to always remember these words and continue putting your Word as a priority consumption for my soul and spirit, over and above the love of every other pursuit. In Jesus name.’
