Genesis 2:5-6 (NKJV)
‘…For the Lord God had not caused it to rain on the earth, and there was no man to till the ground; but a mist went up from the earth and watered the whole face of the ground.’
The Lord did not cause rain to fall until there was a man to till the ground. God is a great economist and He does not lavish grace and anointing if it will not be utilized. If I make myself available, the rains will come. Are you ready to till? Then the rains will surely fall. God is still looking for men and women whom He can entrust His spiritual and physical resources to; then He will lavish them with the rains needed to create wealth and high yields in the physical and in the spiritual. It’s sad to see that ‘there was no man’. God had to withhold the blessings of rain because no man (or better still, no suitable man) was found. God is still searching, hence the rains of blessings and revival tarry.
However, in mercy, He makes the mist keep coming up from the earth preparing the land for when we are ready. This is prevenient grace, the pre-ready grace for the pre-ready task. Let’s step and rise up to the prepared tasks awaiting our entry. The mist has gone forth. The rains are waiting for us.
‘Thank you, Jesus, for the mist before the rain. But the mist is not enough for me; I want the rains. Prepare me O Lord to be the Man you are waiting for. Release the rains of the Spirit upon me Lord. I am ready Lord. Make me ready Lord. In Jesus name. Amen.’
