Genesis 13:14-15 (NKJV)
‘And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: “Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are… for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever.’
It’s important to be connected to God because only then can you hear His heartbeat for you and your nation. Lot was not connected to God’s heart, so he only saw with the eyes of the flesh; the eyes of human ambition and aggrandizement. But for Abram, God told him to lift up his eyes and see what God has prepared for him. Abram waited and therefore saw from God’s perspective.
God has a promise for each one of us, and we need to be open to hearing what that promise is. God will not speak while we keep our personal agendas tight to our chests. God only spoke to Abram about these great promises after Abram was separated from his ambitious nephew. Look around and detach yourself from anything that could stop God speaking his promises to you. Ask God to use any situation (even strife as in Abram’s case) to separate your life from the Lot that has kept God silent in your situation.
‘Lord, open my eyes to see and my ears to hear, that which You have prepared for me. May I be separated from anything that could stifle my ability to hear You. Deliver me from Mr. Lot in or around me. In Jesus name. Amen.’
