Genesis 15:1 (NKJV)
‘After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision…’
The word of the Lord comes in diverse manners, but it is usually preconditioned by something. In this case, the word of the Lord came after Abram had rejected the spoils from the king of Sodom. When we refuse the corruption that comes from the world through lust, we will most likely after that, hear the word of the Lord more clearly.
Secondly, the Lord comes not only through the written scriptures but even more frequently; God’s precise word can be received through dreams and visions. The Bible is replete with God speaking expressly through dreams and visions, and we, therefore, need to pay more close attention to this important means by which God has been known to communicate with His people.
‘Lord, help me reject those practices that could be a blockage to receiving your direct word to me, and please keep me sensitive to how and when you may be speaking to me through dreams and visions. Help me remember these two vital things, in Jesus name. Amen.’
