Genesis 21:19 (NKJV)
“Then God opened her eyes, and she saw a well of water. And she went and filled the skin with water, and gave the lad a drink.”
The bible did not say that God created or made a well of water for them. God simply opened her eyes to see the well of water that was already there. Hagar and her lad were thirsty and at the point of death from lack of water and yet there was water right there before them, but they didn’t see it. What an irony.
Our greatest needs may not be for God to make something new for us but for God to open our eyes to see what He has already placed on our paths. God has created all we need for life and godliness, but we are many times blinded from seeing these things. Satan’s most wicked trickery is to keep us looking in the wrong direction and searching for help elsewhere while God has already made ample provision to bless us where we are. We simply need to see.
“O God, open my eyes to see the blessings You have placed in my path and around my life, and rather than keep looking for help from afar off, help me see the help that’s right by my side. In Jesus’ name i pray. Amen.”
