CLOSE BUT LEFT OUT

June 25, 2017

Genesis 22:19 (NKJV)

“So Abraham returned to his young men, and they rose and went together to Beersheba; and Abraham dwelt at Beersheba.”

It’s possible to be close to a history changing experience but not be privy to it. It’s feasible to accompany a man to the place of his blessings and not get anything out of it. It’s possible to serve a man that God has ordained for greatness but not touch the helm of it. But such is the tragedy of being close but being outside.

Elisha stayed close but insisted on being part of the glory. The woman with the issue of blood was close but also insisted on touching glory. Peter, James, and John nearly missed it because of sleep, but at least they saw the glory. How close are you to the place of glory? Abraham’s young men stayed with the donkeys but had no clue what had transpired at the mount. As they had come, so were they returning, without experiencing anything new for themselves or their families. But Abraham and Isaac had changed. They had seen and experienced Jehovah in a new way.

“Lord, may I not be close but left behind. May I partake of the glory You are pouring out upon my generation. I will go to the mount of transfiguration, and I will encounter my risen Lord there. No Lord, I refuse to be left out of the glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.”
