THE DISCIPLINE OF SAVING

October 22, 2017

Genesis 41:35-36 (NKJV)

“And let them gather all the food of those good years that are coming, and store up grain under the authority of Pharaoh…Then that food shall be as a reserve for the land for the seven years of famine which shall be in the land of Egypt, that the land may not perish during the famine.”

One reason why we will survive the stormy day is that we have learnt to save resources. It is unfortunate that some people consider savings as an unspiritual exercise, yet we can preserve the future through the wisdom of putting aside something small on a regular basis. While regularity is the key to effective saving and personal discipline is the attitude of the saver, keeping the savings away from easy reach is the essential protection of savings.

Joseph ensured that food from the good years was regularly stored away under the authority of Pharaoh so that when the stormy days emerge, and the food supply is cut off, there will be yet food reserve for the sustenance of Egypt.

Be disciplined to save today, and you just may preserve your loved one from disaster in the future.

“Thank You, Lord for encouraging me to deliberately embark on this project. Although I have not been diligent with saving, I commit to start today, even right now. Amen.”
