INDISPENSABLE

Genesis 44:30 (NKJV)

“Now therefore, when I come to your servant my father, and the lad is not with us, since his life is bound up in the lad’s life,”

Jacobs life was bound up in the life of Benjamin and this ought not to have been so. It’s understandable that Jacob loved him very much but to let his life to be bound up in the life of Benjamin, was a bondage of sorts.

Never make anything or anyone indispensable in your life. Only God should hold that role. When something or someone becomes irreplaceable for life and living, that becomes a bondage that will affect the clarity of your vision or ability to obey God. People can play vital roles in our lives, and people may be crucial in our decision-making process, but we must not make them indispensable. Is there a Benjamin in your life?

“Father, I know that there are so many things and so many people who are vital in my life, some of which will be extremely painful if I were to lose them. However, Lord, may my life not to irreparably connected to anything or anyone, outside of You. May I never make anything or anyone irreplaceable in my life. You alone must hold that position. Amen.”
