Genesis 46:4 (NKJV)
“I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also surely bring you up again, and Joseph will put his hand on your eyes.”
Egypt is known as a place of bondage; a house of darkness, and a place of sin. Egypt is a place every believer should avoid. Those who enter the chains of Egypt are not likely to come out again. We must escape Egypt at all costs; except on one condition: that the Lord goes into Egypt with us.
God spoke to Jacob and said, “I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also surely bring you up again.” This was an assurance that motivated Jacob not to fear to go down to Egypt.
Some situations will require a believer to go down to Egypt, but it must always be after receiving a substantial instruction and commendation from God to go; and a firm assurance that he will come out again from Egypt with the Lord. Only by God’s power can we encounter Egypt and survive. Going to Egypt is “going down” and only with God can we “come up out of Egypt” again.
“Lord, I commit to avoiding Egypt at all times. I will enter Egypt only if God asks me to and only if God goes down with me into Egypt.”
