REMEMBER THE GOOD DAYS

November 25, 2017

Genesis 47:9 (NKJV)

“And Jacob said to Pharaoh, “The days of the years of my pilgrimage are one hundred and thirty years; few and evil have been the days of the years of my life…’”

Don’t just look at the bad times but also the good times. Life cannot be all wrong because that is not how God works. If we focus only on the bad days, we will inevitably become gloomy and depressed. Many suicide victims or people with high blood pressure are folks who could not see from a different perspective other than the bad and ugly days of their pilgrimage.

Jacob said his days were “few and evil” and this was not right. His assessment was totally lopsided and incorrect. Jacob had had godly parents. He had inherited the blessings of the first born and was therefore chosen to continue the Abrahamic covenant. He had married the love of his life, had had many many children, had had great wealth and finally, Jacob had had a chance to see his beloved Joseph again before his death. Why would he, therefore, summarize such a life as “few and evil days?”

We must remember the good days and give God praise. We should not become fixated on the areas of failure and difficulty, thereby forgetting the many time we enjoyed God’s faithfulness and mercy. Keep your eyes on the silver lining. There is much to be thankful for. Remember and fill your days with thankfulness.

“Forgive me Lord, where I have no given You sufficient praise but have rather complained instead. You have blessed me so much, and I will be more thankful for these days.”
