Genesis 48:1 (NKJV)
“Now it came to pass after these things that Joseph was told, ‘Indeed your father is sick’; and he took with him his two sons, Manasseh and Ephraim.”
I don’t know why Joseph took his two small boys to see his dying father. Could it be he wanted the old man to bless them? Could it be that he wanted to show the young lads how a godly man handles sickness and death? Whatever the reason, it was surely a wise thing to do and something worthy of emulation.
Let’s not let the younger generation drive their destiny without having exposed them to the blessings and ways of the fathers before them. It is an unfortunate generation that never learned how their parents lived and died, neither received the hand of blessings from them. Expose the young ones to the wise words, wise ways and wise blessings of the sages – before they depart from us and the younger ones lose such invaluable exposure and experience forever.
Expose them while the opportunity lasts.
“I will expose my biological children and spiritual disciples to the ways and words of the earlier fathers. Lord, I will not let these young ones define their destinies without the input of elders. I commit to making a more deliberate effort to influence them, while I have the opportunity. I need Your help to succeed Oh Lord. Amen.”
