THE VITAL CONNECTION

Matthew 10:1

“And when He had called His twelve disciples to Him, He gave them power over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.”

Jesus calls us to Himself before He commissions us. This is the essential foundation to being fruitful in life and ministry. The world is full of devils and problems, and people need solutions. And the solution lies with us, but we cannot answer the issues of devils without the Power from above. Power is the key to being fruitful. Power brings solutions, but power is not tied to us. This power does not originate from us. The power resides with Jesus and only flows from Jesus to those who maintain the vital connection with Him.

As simple as this may sound, yet this is the most challenging part of the Christian life. We are a busy and restless people, and abiding with Jesus can be seen as dull or unexciting if we don’t understand the need and usefulness of this vital connection. All our problems, and the problems of others can be solved once we get this right and place a priority on it. Jesus had so much for His disciples to do, but He first called the twelve to Himself. He knew this was the secret of whatever else they would accomplish in life. Jesus wants us to overcome. Jesus wants us to bring solutions to people’s problems. But we must cultivate the discipline of connecting with Him. In the midst of all our busy schedules, we must stay connected. Once we do this, other issues will fall in line.

“Lord, help me not to be too busy to connect. Deliver me from confidence in myself. It’s only in remaining vitally connected to You, O Lord, can Your power flow to confront the issues in my world. Lord, I will wait on You. And when I drift, please pull my ears and my heart back to You. This I cry for. In Your name. Amen.”
