LEARNING FROM THE JEWS (5)

April 14, 2019

Romans 3:1-2 (NKJV)

“What advantage then has the Jew…Much in every way! Chiefly because to them were committed the oracles of God.”

Still learning from the Jews, we see that God chose them and committed to them the “Oracles,” the living Word of God. NLT says, “the Jews were entrusted with the whole revelation of God.” What an awesome privilege and responsibility. It is fearful that God would give the entirety of His revelation for mankind to one people, and He trusts them to discharge accordingly.

This is scary for me, because the implication is clear for us who are Jews of the New Dispensation. God has in Christ, deposited the entirety of His purposes and revelation in the Church. We are the ones that God looks to for the discharge of His will on earth. God’s agenda is irrevocably tired to our performance. The questions in my heart this morning are many but the summary of them all are: “Have I been a faithful custodian of the Oracles of God for my generation? Have I sacrificially discharged my duties on this stewardship? Am I deeply conversant with the precepts, demands and expectations of these Oracles?” God has committed His revelations to me and I must faithfully distribute this knowledge to my world.

“I plead for the mercy of God to help me grow in faithfully discharging this holy duty, in Jesus name. Amen.”
