SYMPTOMS OF THE UNPROFITABLE LIFE (1)

April 20, 2019

Romans 3:13-14 (NLT)

“Their talk is foul, like the stench from an open grave. Their tongues are filled with lies. ‘Snake venom drips from their lips.’ Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.”

For those who do not seek God, there are some symptoms that will show themselves as evidence of unprofitableness. And one of the first symptoms is what proceeds from their mouths. The unprofitable man’s words are foul and vile; offensive like the ominous smell of decomposing bodies. You cannot give what you don’t have. If you don’t seek after God to saturate your life with His goodness, then vileness is the only thing you can produce.

The words of an unprofitable man kills. It doesn’t edify or build up but produces death; all manners and types of death. Hearts are broken, lives are destroyed and corpses are the result of mingling with unprofitable people. They are full of lies and no truth lies within their bosom. Are your words negative, defiling and unclean? In bitterness or anger, does vileness proceed from your mouth? Then seek God earnestly for the change that only God can give.

“Lord, keep me close to yourself that death may never proceed from my mouth. And may I never find comfort in the presence of people of vile speech. In Jesus name. Amen.”
