Romans 3:17-18 (NLT)
“They don’t know where to find peace. They have no fear of God at all.”
Another symptom of the unprofitable life, that is, the life that does not seek God, is that he lacks peace. Everyone needs peace but for those who do not seek after God, they are looking for peace in the wrong places. “They don’t know where to find peace,” or they cannot find peace because they do not have the God of peace. True inner peace comes from above and only those who have the fear of God, find the peace of God.
If we are always restless, maybe we need to find God, because the restless man is searching for something beyond him. The remedy for restlessness is God. Only God brings true calm and comfort; every other thing is a “make-believe.” The unprofitable life is unstable, unreliable and unsteady. On the inside, he has a constant itch; an inner crisis that only the presence of God can solve. May we never be satisfied with a human-made peace, but rather chase after the God who can give that true and lasting peace.
“Oh Lord, I know I am often restless but my peace comes when I make more and more space for You in my life. May You always be the core, the heart, the center of my being, my life, my everything – for only then will I find true rest. Amen.”
