Romans 5:11 (NLT)
“So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.”
It is a special and rare privilege to be called “friends of God.” How can a mortal man and a broken vessel like myself be called a friend of the Most High? Yet, that’s what scripture teaches. As Paul would say, “we rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God,” this relationship of being called His friends. This is a real reason for rejoicing. I celebrate.
As His friends, we need to show ourselves as good friends and do what good friends do. We need to naturally desire to be with Him. We need to want to talk to Him and listen to Him. We need pursue His priorities because He too is committed to pursue our priorities. Through Christ Jesus, we have been made friends with God, and we thank Jesus for making this friendship happen. I can relax in the presence of God knowing that He is a committed friend, and He will never fail in His love and commitment to me. Amen.
“Amen Lord. It’s a great thing to call the Almighty my friend. How I pray that I can truly live up to Your expectations of friendship, through Jesus Christ. Amen.”
