Romans 9:29 (NKJV)
“…’Unless the Lord of Sabaoth had left us a seed, We would have become like Sodom, And we would have been made like Gomorrah.’”
If God does not apply mercy to judgement, nobody will survive. It is God’s mercy that allows us to enjoy the grace we enjoy today. If God were to judge our generation according to what we deserved, then we would surely be like Sodom and Gomorrah; a people totally wiped out. It is not our righteousness that has kept us because I believe the sins of this generation have outweighed the sins of Sodom and Gomorrah. That there is still a remnant on earth is strictly by God’s miracle.
We bless God for His extended and expansive mercy to our world. We thank God that He has not dealt with us even as we deserved. We thank God that we have not been wiped out because of our extreme sinfulness. We truly thank God for giving us more opportunities to repent and turn away from sin and sinful habits. Yet and sadly enough, our people see this mercy as license to increase sinfulness. Men have grown more obnoxious in their ways, and the fear of God is far disappearing from the earth because people do not see or experience the full repercussions of living in sin. Even the Church has embraced the carelessness of the world, and we too are guilty of taking advantage of God’s generosity. We pray that God does not change His mind and destroy us as He did with Sodom and Gomorrah. We pray that despite the growing evil, God will still preserve His seed, His chosen people, the Remnant of God on the earth.
“Lord, preserve us as Your people on earth, and despite the fast growing cancerous spread of evil, may Your people be sustained and upheld by Your mighty hand. In Jesus name. Amen.”
