1 Samuel 14:2 (NKJV)
“And Saul was sitting in the outskirts of Gibeah under a pomegranate tree which is in Migron. The people who were with him were about six hundred men.”
Some people are so unaware of the times and seasons we live in. They live so casually that you would think we were at a time of peace. My beloved brethren, we are not in a time of peace; we are at war. It’s a wrong posture to live casual in these end times.
Look around you and tell me you cannot see the Philistines surrounding you. Look around you and tell me that you cannot smell an enemy battalion poised to destroy the Church. Just look around you and tell me that you don’t know that your life is being choked in by forces that want to crush you and suffocate you. Look around in the spirit. Can you see them closing in?
As some of us see, smell, and sense the real dangers around, others rigmarole and dance away their destiny. They eat away and drink away, and laugh away in the face of battle. Some call it “living by faith”, but it is really a lack of discernment of the times and seasons. Many believers are not spiritually combat-ready.
After Christ and the saints reigned on earth for 1,000 years, the dragon was released from the bottomless pit where he had been imprisoned for 1,000 years, and yet he was able to convince the nations to rebel against Christ. How did he do it? That’s the power we contend with; the high powers of deception and deceit. That’s the power at work today.
While Jonathan was busy scheming how to penetrate the Philistine garrison, Saul, his father, was relaxing under a pomegranate tree, probably seeping some wine and eating some fruits. What nonsense! There is no hope for the Church when leaders have no consciousness of the battle at the gate. The Church collapsed when leaders lost the urgency of battle.
There’s nothing wrong with luxury but keep your spiritual armor on. There’s nothing wrong with having fun, but stay vigilant at all times. Be spiritually combat-ready. And if you have peace on every side, intercede and contend for your brethren who are at war. It’s a wrong posture to be at rest when the forces of hell are plundering the Church and suffocating God’s people.
