1 Samuel 14:22 (NKJV)
“Likewise all the men of Israel who had hidden in the mountains of Ephraim, when they heard that the Philistines fled, they also followed hard after them in the battle.”
The Church is full of fearful people, and people are fearful for different reasons. Some people are fearful for legitimate reasons, which may be rooted in historical experiences, while others may be fearful because of their natural biological makeup. Although fearfulness is not necessarily sinful, the Bible does not commend the fearful in any way.
Today’s devotion is not focused on the fearful but on one cure for fearfulness, and that is people I call, “Courage Motivators.” A solution for fearfulness is the manifestation of people who express boldness and courage. God’s people need more fearless people, and fearless people are contagious people. When everyone is running away from a situation, courageous people are running towards that situation. Courage Motivators are priceless in God’s scheme of things.
One Christian movie that greatly impacted my wife and I many years ago was the film titled, “Courageous!” It showcased the need to fight for what you believe in, especially, for the family. While marriages are packing up in our generation, God is raising Generals in His army to fight for the family. And so it is with every area of human endeavor. We need Courageous Motivators.
When the fearful see examples worthy of following, they suddenly rediscover their boldness. Everyone needs motivators, and when we find them, we rediscover things that we had either lost or develop things we never had. Courage Motivators are key players in today’s church. A fearful Church is useless to God’s agenda in these last days. Fearful Christians are a delight to Satan because he can get away with so much more than God would ever have wanted.
In the context of today’s verse, there were so many warriors of fighting age who had hidden in the mountains of Ephraim when danger loomed. But when they saw others rush to the battlefield, they were encouraged to come out. Their fighting spirit returned, and they “joined” to chase the enemy. There are fearful men who need motivators to bring them out of hiding.
If you are fearful, look for Courage Motivators. If you are a motivator, go out and encourage God’s people to arise. Whatever your role or history, one thing is unacceptable: fearfulness. Don’t accept it for yourself. Don’t accept it for God’s people around you.
Be a model.
