PROMOTION, GOD’S WAY

August 16, 2024

1 Samuel 17:55 (NKJV)
“When Saul saw David going out against the Philistine, he said to Abner, the commander of the army, ‘Abner, whose son is this youth?’ And Abner said, ‘As your soul lives, O king, I do not know.’”

As pilgrims, we have a unique code of conduct that’s very different from the way the world does things.

While the world struggles to be seen and known, we keep our eyes on the Lord. We only want to be introduced like Jesus was.

Jesus was introduced by His Father. The Father spoke and said, “This is my Beloved Son. Listen to Him.” The greatest introduction anyone can have is from above.

When God introduces you to people, you are introduced.

Jesus was introduced by His works. As He spoke words of great wisdom accompanied by signs and wonders, people had to take note of Him.

People knew that this was no ordinary Rabbi. People drew near.

Before David slew Goliath, he was practically unknown, even to Abner, the commander of the army. But after the conquest, everyone wanted to know him.

David’s exploit by God’s power had introduced him.

When Abner’s strong men failed to rise up on the day of reckoning, a strange young boy did. He did not flinch as he stepped forward.

Because he walked with God, God introduced him and honored him. Now, men had to honor him, too.

Men will find you and honor you if you walk in God and express your deepest convictions in Christ. Stay true to who you are and maximize what God has taught you.

Pursue and express your best in God, and people will notice you.

Don’t follow the world system. They struggle to be seen and known. Don’t cluster around so-called “powerful people,” hoping they can introduce you.

Focus on your calling in God. Your exploits in God will introduce you. That’s God’s way.

We don’t want what they want. We will stay faithful to our calling and placement. All power belongs to God. We only want the spotlight He brings to us.

This is the only way to enter promotion that does not destroy.
