STAY CONNECTED

1 Samuel 19:18 (NKJV)
“So David fled and escaped, and went to Samuel at Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and stayed in Naioth.”

There are special people God may have brought into your life for a season and for a reason but over time, you may become disconnected with such persons. If you are the reason for the disconnection, you need to change that.

With time and with busyness, it is easy to forget the people God used to help us. We may not intend to but it is easy to focus on the urgency of the present and discard your valued relationships from the past.

But is that how God intended it to be? Could it be that God wants us to stay connected to them even as we grow because God knows that one day, their wisdom and presence may still be needed?

Despite David becoming very popular, and living in the king’s palace, he remained in touch with Samuel. He remembered Samuel’s role in his life, and he knew that Samuel would always be a safe place for him.

Stay connected with your mentors from the past. You may still need them in the future. Keep them updated on your journey and your progress. Continue to receive input and wisdom from them. Don’t cut off.

These people can however also be extra busy and may not be always available or accessible to us. This is understandable. But let’s do our part. If there needs to be a disconnection, let it come from them, and not us.

Samuel understood the need to maintain the connection. He remained available to David. When David eventually fell out of favor with Saul, he knew exactly who to go to. He knew he could cry and unburden his heart with Samuel.

Do you have such safe places where you can pour out your heart without fear? Do you have leaders who have helped you in the past and who are still available now? It is a gift to stay connected to such persons.
