1 Samuel 21:7 (NKJV)
“Now a certain man of the servants of Saul was there that day, detained before the Lord. And his name was Doeg, an Edomite, the chief of the herdsmen who belonged to Saul.”
Live in the consciousness that you are always being watched. Sometimes, you are being watched for good, and at other times, you are being watched with evil intent in mind. Never let this reality escape you.
Knowing that we are being watched, we need to be conscious of what we do and how we do them. People are learning from us what it means to be true Christians. People are looking for examples, and may we be those examples.
People are also looking for excuses to point fingers. People want stories to prove that following Christ is a farce and that Christians are actually just like everyone else, if not worse. Satan looks for opportunity to discredit Christ.
The Bible says that Doeg the Edomite was around on the day that David and his men met Ahimelech. He was detained by the Lord. I am not sure what that means and what had brought him there but he observed and reported.
People will not only observe; they will report. They will testify what they see in us. Their testimonies can be for good or for evil. Doeg’s report brought great harm to Ahimelech and all his family and the priesthood.
Be aware of your surroundings. There are some things you may choose not to do or to say because you are aware of certain persons being present. Wisdom demands that we know how to act in each situation. Wisdom is profitable. Wisdom saves.
In our world of technology and fast news communication, what we do and say can travel around the world at an amazing speed. What we think was done in secret can be reported in another continent before the close of day. Be aware.
We are not afraid. We are children of light. Let our light so shine that wherever we are, people have no option but to report God’s glory in and through us. Let’s however speak and live in wisdom. Amen.
