DECLARATIONS #4: Divine Resourcefulness

January 6, 2025

1 Samuel 23:22
“Please go and find out for sure, and see the place where his hideout is, and who has seen him there. For I am told he is very crafty.”

As we navigate the complexities of our world, we need skill and wisdom to deal with different situations and people. The simple-minded man quickly gets entangled in things that he could have escaped.

Humility does not negate resourcefulness. We can be humble and simple, and yet be very resourceful and wise. The resourceful person sees things from so many different angles and utilizes the best options in decision-making.

Resourcefulness is a skill to be developed. As we mingle with people, we must always listen to what is said and what is not. As we engage with people, we must think outside the box and look for creative solutions.

What sets an excellent leader apart from average leaders is resourcefulness. Resourcefulness is more than intelligence. It is the ability to make the best use of opportunities before you to achieve your intended goals.

As you walk through life, look out for opportunities and resources that are accessible and useful. As you spend time with God, He will open your eyes to see and understand things that are not obvious to the casual observer.

David was such a resourceful leader. He was able to outsmart Saul and escape being caught because of his resourcefulness. After many failed attempts, even Saul had to acknowledge this and called him “crafty.”

But David was not crafty; he was resourceful. Craftiness is the negative form of resourcefulness. Those who hate you may call you crafty, but it’s because they don’t understand your source. As pilgrims, you tap into a heavenly resource that sets you apart.

Don’t be naïve and simple-minded. Divine resourcefulness means that heaven will constantly release capacities and abilities to help you navigate your complex world. You need this skill, and we pray you will operate in it fully, just as David did. Amen.
