\u201c(for the children not yet being born, nor having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works but of Him who calls), it was said to her, \u2018The older shall serve the younger.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
God\u2019s Sovereignty is one of the most difficult of biblical doctrines to understand, if indeed it can be understood at all. There are some things in scriptures that can only be accepted based on our faith in God, and not based on our human reasoning. Sovereignty means that God is good and He does what is good and right, according to His own determinate counsel and purpose and in His timing, to fulfill His predetermined program. Based on this simple definition, it means that for God to really be God, He has to have the final say on what He does, when He does it and why He does it. Because God is good, we know that His will and actions are always correct, even when we don\u2019t understand them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the passage above, God chose that the older child (Esau) would serve the younger (Jacob), and this was not because one was bad and the other was good. We don\u2019t know exactly why He made this choice, for scriptures say, \u201cThis message shows that God chooses people according to his own purposes\u201d \u2013 NLT. I don\u2019t understand God\u2019s sovereignty but I trust in His love, in His goodwill and in His perfect wisdom. For this reason, I rest in these truths even when I can\u2019t rationalize His actions. In eternity, I will understand all things, but for now, I choose to believe and never doubt what God sends my way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
