\u201cThen Elkanah her husband said to her, \u2018Hannah, why do you weep? Why do you not eat? And why is your heart grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons?’\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Some people may mean well and seek to lift off the burden of your pain, but there is a continual grief that is a necessary precursor for a personal breakthrough. Cheap comfort is that premature comfort that seeks to alleviate the burden and pain in your heart, which could be a condition for God\u2019s divine intervention. Cheap, premature comfort brings a temporary soothing that does not deal with the root cause of an issue, and it may tranquilize your soul from seeking heaven\u2019s intervention. Your destiny can be aborted if you accept the cheap offer of quick solace, even before you have encountered the transforming power of God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Elkanah tried to present himself as sufficient consolation to Hannah, but she needed more. She needed more than a husband. She needed a child of destiny that will transform Israel. She knew her destiny was beyond the comforting words of her husband. So in her heart, she rejected her husband\u2019s cheap comfort. She needed more than what he could offer. May we likewise refuse to be comforted by empty soothing words that have the potential of truncating God\u2019s divine agenda for our lives. Amen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAmen, Lord. May I never find or accept cheap solace until You produce through me, all that is in Your mind for my life. In Jesus\u2019 name.
