Matthew 6:20-21 <\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cbut lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.\u201d<\/em> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are an accumulating people. We seem to find more relevance and sense of worth by the multitudes of things we can gather. Like someone once sang about the erroneous philosophy which our world lives by, it is indeed a fallacy to think that, \u201che who dies with the most toys wins.\u201d That\u2019s humanity for you. Gather as much as possible, but we tend to forget that we shall all die one day and leave everything behind. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The only lasting and meaningful treasure is God, and if He is our treasure, then our hearts need to focus on Him and the things of His Kingdom. This world has no permanent abode for us, and all the earth\u2019s treasures will sooner or later pass away. It is meaningless to spend our entire lives chasing things that will not last. It\u2019s all vanity. How can I burn all my energies for what I cannot keep? Is life meant to get us chasing such a shadow? I must preserve my treasure beyond this world\u2019s reach. I must invest in the things of the Kingdom, secretly and quietly, knowing that these investments have eternal value. I must make the meditation on God, and His goodness, my central thought and the pursuit of God my life ambition, for only these have any real meaning in this life of shadows. Stop chasing the wind like everyone else. Be different and keep your heart always properly centered. Always. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cJesus, You are my true treasure. Everything else is vanity. Teach me to put the world\u2019s vanities where they belong, as earthly and transient things.
