Matthew 10:41<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cHe who receives a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet\u2019s reward. And he who receives a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man\u2019s reward.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n It seems that there is a secret here of tapping into and partaking in another man\u2019s reward without necessarily doing what the man did to earn that reward. It seems that this little verse hides a secret that we have not fully explored. Could this verse indeed imply what it appears to be stating so plainly? Could it be true that by providing for a prophet, I can share in the rewards allocated to the prophet? Could it be that by lovingly assisting a righteous man, I am indirectly also claiming a part of his rewards of righteousness?<\/p>\n\n\n\n If the above verse is truly literal and literally true, then this is the highest motivation to serve the Saints of God. I must give myself more intentionally to help those persons that I know bear the mark of righteousness and who serve God faithfully. I should go out of my way to provide for them and to bless them because in so doing I am actually not just blessing them, but I am also blessing myself. Is this not selfish? Sure, it is, but it is a good kind of selfishness. Being kind to the people of God because you will share in their reward is permitted selfishness, and we need more practice this kind of selfishness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cRemind me, Lord, to regularly serve the Saints of God, knowing that such service is not in vain.
