Matthew 11:6<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cAnd blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n It is not easy to have faith when in the dungeons of difficulty and pain. John the Baptist was a great prophet, indeed, the greatest of all the prophets. But in his days of anguish and agony, he had a creeping doubt. Something within his heart began to ask the wrong question: \u201cAre You the Coming One, or do we look for another?\u201d That was the wrong question coming from such a great Saint, but an understandable one, because of the circumstance in which he found himself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We need special grace to stay in faith in the days of anguish. When the darkness seems to surround us, and we don\u2019t have a reasonable explanation for why things happen the way they do, that is the time to be more guarded about our inner and outer responses. It\u2019s not wrong to ask questions when in anguish but we need to ask them in faith still. We must always believe that despite it all and in spite of the lack of clarity on issues, we must still believe God is working. God is always at work, but we do not always understand or see the work. Faith is the only vehicle that can make sense of God\u2019s work, when reason has given up trying to understand. Ask those questions, but ask in faith. We must be determined under grace, not to be offended when we don\u2019t understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cJesus, when my days of darkness or pain arrive, O Lord, grant me that special grace to still see You in the midst of my anguish. Father, for the sake of Jesus, don\u2019t leave me in the dungeon of confusion. Send me help and help me understand. And if my mind cannot understand, just give me that raw faith that keeps me from asking the wrong questions. In Jesus name.
