Matthew 17:5<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cWhile he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, \u2018This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!\u2019 \u201c<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n The most important thing is not talking to God, but listening to Him. In the presence of God, a quiet listening ear is more precious than volumes of well-intentioned and well-crafted prayer-speeches. We can be so busy in the presence of God that we are not listening to the still small voice. God is talking, and because of the echoes from our own voices, we cannot comprehend His instructions for our lives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n While Peter was yet busy proffering solutions and suggestions, the voice of God broke through and said (paraphrased): \u201cStop talking and start listening to My Beloved Son.\u201d God\u2019s overshadowing presence and voice must have cut Peter short. Oh! That God will cut me short, overshadow me and make it impossible for me to keep talking when I should be listening. The most important thing is to hear Jesus. All of life\u2019s troubles and puzzles suddenly become nothing once we can hear Him. Clarity for tomorrow and peace for today is ours once we can hear Him. So, let\u2019s stop our frenzied planning and prayer meetings. Let\u2019s go back to Him and seek to hear Him. Only then can we know how to pray and how to plan.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cJesus, listening to You is the secret to life. Without hearing You, life is dark and hopeless and frightening. Overshadow me O God and help me find the stillness to hear my Savior. In Your name, I pray.
