Genesis 4:6-7 (NKJV)<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u2018So the Lord said to Cain, \u201cWhy are you angry? And why has your countenance fallen? If you do well, will you not be accepted? And if you do not do well, sin lies at the door. And its desire is for you, but you should rule over it.\u201d\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Amplified version says, \u2018sin crouches\u2019 at your door. That\u2019s what sin does and that\u2019s how sin approaches: never overtly but covertly, crouching. Waiting to pounce. We, however, need not let external circumstances determine our actions. Satan will seek to work through the external environment to create an internal condition that is suitable for sin to gain ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Rather than repent and seek God\u2019s face as to why his offering was rejected, he allowed negative emotions interface with the external circumstances; which eventually led to further sin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We are called to rule over sin. In the early days as well as for those in Christ today, the Child of God has been given authority over sin. Yes, it will crouch at our doorsteps but we must rule over it. Sin has an unfortunate desire for me, but that is one desire I must not allow being fulfilled because I have the rod of God to use over sin and Satan. Amen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u2018Lord, I must exercise the authority you have invested in me. You have given me the power of your name and the grace of God and the presence of your Spirit. How then can sin crouch and pounce on me and I let it have its way? No Lord, I won\u2019t let that happen. By you, I will never let sin rule over me and it never shall, in Jesus name.
