Abraham died well, and that\u2019s one way we could wish to die.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He was \u201cGATHERED TO HIS PEOPLE.\u201d Abraham had a community. He belonged to an extended family; a large community of those who considered him a member of their group. Some called him father, others uncle; others grandpa, others master. All put together, these were his people, and they came out to bury him. Gathered to his people also meant, he joined the covenant people who had gone ahead of him. So he was not only was gathered by his immediate people, he was gathered to his ancestral people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>His \u201cSONS BURIED HIM.\u201d Although Ishmael had been sent away, he returned for his father\u2019s burial. May our children bury us and may they stand side by side in the funeral procession, having no ill against one another. Ishmael didn\u2019t show any animosity towards Isaac &amp; that\u2019s a good testimony to Abraham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cO Lord, may I die well, full of years and gathered by my people, to the cloud of witnesses above who are my people. This I earnestly desire in Christ.
