\u201cBut Jacob said, \u2018Sell me your birthright as of this day.\u2019 And Esau said, \u2018Look, I am about to die; so what is this birthright to me?’\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Be careful what you say and what you do, particularly when you are under pressure. Rash promises and vows can be made under the heat of the moment which could have dire or eternal consequences for you and those around you. Because of his great hunger, Esau despised his birthright. He may not have understood that such a vow would be binding, but it led to him losing the right of first inheritance and losing the covenant blessings from Abraham, which now went to Isaac.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Beware of the Jacobs who\u2019ll take advantage of your days of weakness. Beware of those who will seduce you away from your inheritance in exchange for a moment of temporary satisfaction. Weariness will come, but beware what you say or do at such times. You may not get another opportunity to correct the rash vow made at a time of desperation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cO my Father, protect me by much grace when I am down and weary. When my flesh is too strong, O God, silence every strange hunger within me. Overtake my weakness and let Your Holy Spirit guard me against doing anything stupid that will have long-lasting implications. This I pray, in Jesus name.
