\u201cLord, there\u2019s so much noise in my world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Inner noisiness has kept me distracted from spending quality time with You.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
How I want to spend quality time alone with You,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Not in some lonely isolated place,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But quietness in and through the busy day of activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I need to shut down the inner noise that keeps my soul busy,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I need to silence those many voices that keep my mind busy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I know it is possible to be in the crowd but not with the crowd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I know it\u2019s possible to have a full day of busy schedules,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And yet enjoy inner tranquility and rest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My problem has never been the crowd outside,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
My problem has been me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am my greatest noise maker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I am too quick to distract myself,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Even when there was no need for distraction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cLord, deliver me from the unnecessary agitations in my soul,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Irrelevant fussing that keeps driving me away from inner solitude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If I keep failing in this soul-seclusion,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then there is no hope for me to grow in the discipline of hearing and walking with God.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then the result will be a parched and dry life that has no impact on man or relevance to God,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Busy for himself and busy for nothing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Deliver me from such a tragedy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And start by increasing in me the grace to shut down on the inside,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While being gainfully engaged with the businesses of each day;<\/p>\n\n\n\n
To learn to shut down from the noises within and without,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
So that I can enjoy deeper spiritual interaction with my Beloved.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Do this for me my Lord,<\/p>\n\n\n\n
